Indian Rupee, its impact on present World Economy

Indian Rupee growing in strength.

India is the world’s largest democracy and one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The Indian Rupee (INR) is an important currency in the world economy, and its value can have a major impact on global markets.

When the value of the Indian Rupee strengthens against other currencies, it can boost exports from India to other countries, as Indian goods become more affordable in those countries. This can help stimulate economic growth in India, boosting the country’s GDP and creating new job opportunities.

Conversely, when the value of the Indian Rupee weakens, imports to India become more expensive, leading to inflation and reduced purchasing power in India. This can have a negative effect on the Indian economy and can put downward pressure on other countries’ currencies. The Indian Rupee is also a major player in the global financial markets, as it is used to trade in commodities such as gold and oil. Therefore, changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can have a significant impact on commodity prices around the world.

The Indian Rupee is also an important currency in global trade.

As India is one of the world’s largest importers and exporters, changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can have an effect on the prices of goods and services in other countries. When the value of the Indian Rupee strengthens, goods imported from India become more expensive, putting upward pressure on prices in other countries.

Conversely, when the value of the Indian Rupee weakens, goods imported from India become more affordable, leading to lower prices in other countries. Changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can also affect the flow of foreign investment in India. If the Rupee is weak, foreign investors may be less likely to invest in India, causing the Indian economy to suffer. On the other hand, if the Rupee is strong, foreign investors may be more likely to invest in India, helping to stimulate economic growth. In either case, changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can have significant impacts on the global economy.

The Indian Rupee can also impact the global economy through its influence on the value of other currencies.

When the value of the Indian Rupee rises, it can put downward pressure on other currencies, as investors may shift their investments away from those currencies and into the Rupee. Similarly, when the value of the Rupee depreciates, it can put upward pressure on other currencies, as investors may shift their investments into those currencies. This can cause currency exchange rates to fluctuate, which can have an effect on the amount of money that exporters and importers receive for their goods and services.

Finally, the Indian Rupee is a major reserve currency, meaning that many countries around the world hold it as a store of value. This can have an effect on global interest rates, as countries may adjust their own interest rates to match those of the Indian Rupee. All of these factors demonstrate the importance of the Indian Rupee in the global economy, and the potential impact it can have on the world economy.

The Indian Rupee also plays an important role in global financial markets.

The Indian Rupee is used as a unit of account by many international investors, and it is a major currency in global commodities markets. Changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can have a significant effect on the prices of commodities such as gold, oil, and other raw materials, which can in turn have an effect on the global economy.

In addition, the Indian Rupee is an important currency in the global foreign exchange market, and changes in its value can affect the amount of money that exporters and importers receive for their goods and services. The Indian Rupee is an important currency in the world economy, and its value can have a major impact on global markets.

The Indian Rupee is also an important currency in global capital markets.

Any changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can have an effect on the prices of stocks and bonds in other countries, as investors may shift their investments away from those markets and into the Rupee. This can lead to fluctuations in global stock and bond prices, which can have a significant impact on the global economy.

The Indian Rupee is also a major currency in the global derivatives market, as it is used to trade in options, futures, and other derivative instruments. Changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can therefore have an effect on the prices of these instruments, which can have an impact on the global economy.

Finally, the Indian Rupee is a major currency in the global banking system, and changes in its value can have an effect on the global banking system and the availability of credit. All of these factors demonstrate the importance of the Indian Rupee in the world economy and the potential impact it can have on global markets.

The Indian Rupee being an important currency in the world economy, its value can have a major impact on global markets. Changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can affect the prices of goods and services in other countries, the flow of foreign investment in India, and the prices of stocks, bonds, and commodities around the world. It can also affect the prices of derivatives instruments, the availability of credit, and the global banking system. Factors effecting performance of Indian Rupee

The performance of the Indian Rupee is heavily influenced by the underlying health of the Indian economy. Factors such as economic growth, inflation, and political stability can all have a major impact on the Rupee’s exchange rate. India’s large population, diverse industries, and the country’s reliance on imports are all factors that can affect the Rupee’s performance.

The Indian Rupee is also affected by global economic factors, such as the performance of the US dollar and the euro, as well as any geopolitical or economic events that may affect the global economy. For example, the UK’s decision to leave the European Union in 2016 caused the Rupee to weaken, as investors became concerned about the potential economic impact of Brexit.

Finally, the performance of the Indian Rupee is also affected by the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) monetary policy. The RBI sets the benchmark interest rate and the cash reserve ratio, which can have a major impact on the supply and demand of the Rupee. The RBI also has the power to intervene in the foreign exchange markets, which can affect the supply and demand of the Rupee and its exchange rate against other currencies.

In conclusion, the Indian Rupee is an important currency in the world economy and its value can have a major impact on global markets. Investors and traders must keep a close eye on the performance of the Rupee. Changes in the value of the Indian Rupee can affect the prices of goods and services in other countries, the flow of foreign investment in India, and the prices of stocks, bonds, commodities, derivatives, and the global banking system. By understanding the factors that can affect the performance of the Rupee, such as the underlying health of the Indian economy, global economic and geopolitical events, and the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policies, investors and traders can gain a better understanding of how the global economy is performing and make more informed investment decisions. As such, the Indian Rupee is a major player in the global economy and its value must be monitored closely in order to ensure stability in the global markets.

Benefits of Yoga

Beginning of Yoga

Yoga is believed to be have originated in India 5000 years ago in the Indus Valley civilization (3300 – 1900 BC).  It is a way of living which unites our body, mind and spirit to connect spiritually, maintain healthy lifestyle and social relationships. Yoga and it’s health benefits was first mentioned of in Sanskrit in the ancient Rig Veda. Traditionally, yoga was taught using the Guru-Shishya form (teacher-student) with yoga gurus as the main authority of associated knowledge, skills and health benefits on Yoga. It was derived from the postures used in the medieval spiritual discipline of Hatha Yoga.

Yoga is a combined process of different physical postures in sequences, meditation, breathing exercise, word chanting and other techniques designed to improve one’s health and relaxation thus helping an individual to build self-realization.

Many of the terms used in Yoga practice are in Sanskrit, for example, Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) is a common yoga practice, where the words  Surya means Sun and Namaskar means salute or greetings, also understood as ‘worshipping the sun’.

According to yoga, it is actually the nervous system of the body that affects our health. The nervous system gets purified with daily yoga practice and thus keeps our body healthy and strong.

Maharishi Patanjali is known as “The Father of Yoga“, compiled 195 Yoga sutras, where the different theories and practice under ancient Yogic science serve as a framework for integrating Yoga into the daily routine and leading an ethical life.  The compilation of the Yoga Sutras is believed to done somewhere around 200 BC.

Tirumalai Krishnamacharya (18 November 1888 – 28 February 1989) was an Indian yoga teacher, ayurvedic healer and scholar. He is  one of the most important gurus of modern yoga, and is often called “the father of modern yoga” for his huge contribution on the development of postural yoga.

Modern yoga is believed to have begin with the young Monk Swami Vivekananda who have made a lasting impression in the Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893 with his Vedanta based yoga philosophy. After him Paramahansa Yogananda (January 5, 1893 – March 7, 1952) introduced millions to his teachings of meditation and Kriya yoga in India and America. Now Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s “Art of Living” and Swami Ramdev of Patanjali Yoga Peeth Trust has managed to spread yoga in each and every house of India and abroad as well. Apart from the mentioned Yoga Guru’s there are many more Yoga Guru’s in India who have played a great role in spreading the benefits of Yoga across the world.

Yoga enthusiasts throughout the world often enjoy traveling to India simply because yoga is so important to this country’s culture. There are many places of interest for yoga enthusiasts to visit within the country to learn, practice and derive the benefits of Yoga. The world famous Art of Living Foundation in Bengaluru, Patanjali International Yoga Foundation Rishikesh, Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram Risikesh , Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram Chennai,  Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore are some of them among many others.

June 21, is International Yoga Day

On 27 th September 2014, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi proposed to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to celebrate 21 st June as the International Day of Yoga. The proposal for an International Yoga Day was supported by 175 member nations, the highest number of co-sponsors ever for any UNGA Resolution. This proposal was accepted by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on 11th December 2014, thus in India and world over it is being celebrating ever since. The theme for the International Yoga Day 2022 is ‘Yoga for Humanity

Now, yoga has gained global recognition with celebrities like Richard Gere and Lady Gaga swearing by its benefits.

About half a billion people practice Yoga worldwide, so it is safe to assume that most countries have a following nowadays. Yoga is not a new practice in most countries, while some countries have a small following of this art. Some countries where yoga  have large followings or are fast gaining popularity are India, United States, Thailand, Japan, Costa Rica, Bali (Indonesia), Hawaii, Germany, Nepal, Sweden, Morocco, The Bahamas, Mexico, Spain, Sri Lanka, Italy, Portugal, United kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Norway, Denmark, South Africa, Chile, Hong Kong, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

The primary goal of Yoga is self-realization or union of self- consciousness with the supreme consciousness. It is a goal suggested for mankind in contrast to pure economic and material development as a goal of modern civilization. We see that the latter part has given temporary happiness to the mankind leading to further desires and ultimately discontentment.  Too much competition and compulsion to achieve very high targets is leading to stressful lives. It has brought social inequities, unrest and ecological destruction.

Yoga has managed to expand its way right across the globe, while some communities worry that it is a religion or faith that should not be practiced, others realize its health benefits and regularly participate in their daily life.

Therefore, it can be concluded that practice of yoga is beneficial for all the dimensions of health, i.e. physical, mental, social, and spiritual and at the same time promotes harmony with nature and helps in conserving environment.

Ways to improve our Focus, Concentration and Memory

Today’s digital world, easily distract us from concentrating on our daily schedule activities. Information is everywhere around us which we need to deal everyday with this ever increasing and multiple forms of information. It drags on our time and our attention.

Our daily schedule is dominated by switching in and out of our mobile phones and computer with lots of messages and mails to deal with. For solving our daily problems we constantly search for information thus consuming a lot of our valuable time.

Frequent distractions affect our productive effort. It takes longer to finish a task. Neither can we listen well nor can we comprehend information as well. This leads to misunderstanding, misinterpretation, and conflict with our partner or colleagues. It thus affects our memory. We forget many things or can’t recall information promptly which affects our personal life and professional image.

As we grow older our aging gradually leads to many changes in our capacity to concentrate on our thinking and memory. We find it much difficult to and harder to focus our attention and grasp information or any topic quickly. This gradual slowdown in processing information can lead to a blockage of information entering our short-term memory, reducing the amount of information that can be acquired and programmed into long-term memory.

On reaching the age of sixty, more than half of adults have concerns about their memory. However, minor memory lapses that occur with age are not usually signs of a serious problem, such as Alzheimer’s disease, but rather it results in the normal changes of structure and function of the brain.

Everyone wants to know how to focus better and how to concentrate more as we are always unable to concentrate on the task at hand. Here we need to understand the benefits of improving concentration and focus on improving our memory to address this worthwhile issue.

Here are some simple ways how we can improve our concentration and focus on attending to the information presented to us:

When someone is talking to us, we should look at the person and listen closely. If we missed something that was said, we should ask the person to repeat it or to speak more slowly. We should paraphrase what is said to make sure that we understand it and to reinforce the information.

If we find that we tend to become distracted during conversations, we should try getting together with people in quiet environments. For example, we can suggest meeting at someone’s home instead of at a noisy restaurant. If we meet people at a restaurant, should try sit at a table near a wall. If our companions sit against the wall and we should sit facing them to be able to focus on them without having our attention wander to other dinner.

We can also improve your ability to focus on a task and screen out distractions if we do one thing at a time. We should try to avoid interruptions. For example, if someone asks us something while we are in the middle of reading or working, we should ask the person to wait until we’re finished. We should not answer to phone calls until we’ve finished what we’re doing.

Some more ways to improve our concentration and memory :

  • Being an organized person is easier to remember time schedule. Check listing and manually writing down our checklist also increases the likelihood that we will remember what we have written down.
  • We always need to concentrate on a particular task, but sometimes we get stuck and our brain needs something fresh to focus on. Here we should switch to other tasks or something we love to do. Switching tasks can help us stay alert and improve our productive for longer period.
  • Getting out into nature is incredibly important for our emotional and physical health. Enjoying nature can even be considered a form of meditation. Walking in a park can improved memory and attention compared to walking in a city.
  • Exercise has been shown to have cognitive benefits. It improves oxygen and nutrient delivery to the body, and helps to create new cells in the brain which are essential for memory storage. Walking every day is a good choice.
  • Mounting evidence shows the benefits of meditation on health. Studies show that meditation helps in improving several functions, like focus, concentration, memory, and learning. Meditation may actually revitalize the brain and encourage more connections between brain cells.
  • Our brain is made mostly of water. Water acts as a shock absorber for the brain and spinal cord. It helps our brain cells use nutrients. So just a small amount of dehydration can have disastrous effects. Aim for at least six glasses per day, or more if you’re very active.
  • Foods habits can affect cognitive functions like concentration and memory.  We should avoid processed foods, too much sugar, and very greasy or fatty foods foods to boost our concentration. A good healthy breakfast can help by boosting our focus first thing in the morning.  Meal should be low in sugars and high in protein and fiber.
  • Going to bed at the same time every night and getting up at the same time each morning should be a habit. Try not to break your routine on the weekends. This can greatly improve sleep quality, rest our brain and improve our memory power.

We can conclude by saying that memory is a skill, and just like other skills, it can be improved with practice and healthy overall habits. We may start small like picking a new challenging activity to learn, incorporate a few minutes of exercise in our daily schedule, maintain a sleep schedule, and eat a few more green vegetables, fish, and nuts.

Hence learning to concentrate at our work is essential for success in your career and life. By improving your concentration we can accomplish more of what we value and feel better doing it. It is not just about accomplishing a tasks but about making time for joy and happiness to achieve a meaningful and satisfying life.

Motivation gets killed at work, How?

Role of Motivation

When employees are motivated, they are excited to show up to work every day and contribute. They’ll help their coworkers when it’s needed. They’ll brainstorm new ideas and routinely go above and beyond. Here career motivation work round the clock for the employees to achive their goals.

When they’re not motivated, it’s a whole different story. Work becomes dreadful, and they only do the bare minimum just so they can keep their jobs.

Successful companies are built on the backs of motivated employees. Conversely, organizations staffed by unmotivated employees likely won’t stick around that much longer. That being the case, let’s take a look at six common factors that kill employee motivation:

A lack of professional development opportunities

Many of today’s workers — especially millennials — are extremely interested in opportunities to grow as professionals and advance in their careers. Yet many employees still believe that their organizations don’t offer adequate opportunities for professional development. If an employee feels like they are stuck in a dead-end job, doing the same routine and tasks day in and day out, they won’t exactly be inspired to take initiative.

Toxic coworkers and a toxic culture

When workers get along with their colleagues and love company culture, they’re happy and engaged. When they hate their coworkers and loathe their company’s toxic culture, they tune out.

Too many unproductive meetings

Are your employees going from one meeting to the next? If your company has a ton of unproductive meetings — and meetings about meetings — there’s a good chance your employees are becoming increasingly unmotivated.

Terrible leadership and management

Employees will work hard when their bosses are great leaders with clear visions and enviable work ethics. When managers are hypocritical and seem to not really know what they’re doing, it’s a whole different story.

Companies cannot be successful if they’re managed by unskilled people who don’t lead by example. When you promote folks who don’t deserve it into managerial roles, employee motivation can disintegrate overnight.

Employee feedback is never requested

Many employees still feels that they are not valued at their job. No matter what kind of worker you are, odds are you like it when people listen to what you’re saying and ask for your input on important decisions. Your employees are no different. They put in as many hours as you do. Because they have different roles, they have different ideas — some of which may be truly game-changing.

If you never ask your employees what they think about new proposals or initiatives, they won’t be encouraged or feel any ownership of what they do every day.

The absence of transparency

If you’ve ever worked for a company which made a major decision that completely blindsided almost everyone, you know how cheated you can feel when an organization lacks transparency. Of course, companies aren’t expected to keep all of their employees in the loop regarding every little thing that’s on the horizon. But when management operates in secrecy and doesn’t keep employees looped in on major decisions, motivation is killed.

If your company is guilty of any of the above, take immediate steps to change the behavior. Otherwise, you won’t be able to reach your full potential. It’s that simple.

Effective Study Technique for Students

It’s never too early – or too late – for students to develop good study habits. The sooner you get into a good study technique, the easier everything will be and the more your chances of getting good marks will improve. Students who follow these techniques learn more easily, retain material for longer periods of time, and save themselves hours of study time. Here are some effective study technique for students which will help them in their studies:

A study schedule is must.

Prepare a study timetable setting aside certain hours of each day for study just as you do for nourishment and sleep. Follow the same schedule faithfully every day. The amount of time needed for study will vary for each individual based on skills with the subject matter.

Early in the year an hour or two a night might be enough to stay on the mark. Later in the year you might need to study more each day. This helps you understand things and get well prepared for your exams. It also helps you avoid the stress of last-minute cramming before going for your exams.

Right place and time.

Everyone has their own idea about the best place and time to study. If concentration is your problem, then the right surroundings will help you greatly. Your study desk or table should be in a quiet place – free from as many distractions as possible. It should make you feel happy and inspired.

You will concentrate better when you study in the same place every day. It’s a mind set. Some students can study better in the morning while others better at night. Work out which time suits you and plan to study then. Don’t study much later than your usual bedtime – pushing yourself late at night can make you too tired to study properly.

Developing the habit of studying in the same place at the same time everyday will improve your concentration.

Properly equipped study place.

Apart from your books & copies your study desk or table should be equipped with all the materials you might need to complete the assignment, e.g., pencils, pens, erasers, paper clips, stapler, dictionary, liquid refreshments, etc. Sometimes you may require a calculator or other supplies for some assignments. With your materials at hand, you can study without interruption. If you have a desktop Computer or laptop beside your study desk it would be an advantage during your study time.

You will require snack food and drinks during study breaks. So if it is available at the study location then it will eliminate those endless trips to the kitchen which break your concentration.

Manage your time effectively.

It is very necessary to have your study program to effectively get in motion so that you can make the most of your study time.

You should set alarms to remind you about your study timetable. A regular reminder keeps you honest and your course of action on track.

Your study timetable, calendar or wall planner should be properly placed up so you can see it whenever you’re studying. Important dates, like exams and assignment due dates should be marked.

At the start of the week, make a list of the things that you need to have done by the end of the week. Make a to-do list at the start of each study session too, so that you’re clear about what you need to be doing with your time.

Your Learning process.

We all have our preferred way of learning. Here are some processes you can follow.

If you do best by hearing things, and can retain information that comes to you orally, you’re probably an auditory learner. Try reading your notes aloud and discussing them with other people. Teaching the information to someone else is one of the best ways to learn. Draw diagrams/graphs, write out explanations, and teach concepts to each other to help each of you better remember them.

You can use verbal and listening repetition to help you remember the order of things.

Record yourself saying what needs to be memorized once, then play it back to yourself while you sleep. The repetition in your sleep can help you to reinforce concepts you have already consciously acquired.

If you are permitted to taping lectures then it help you to get your missed notes and also to hear the information presented again for a second or third time. This will be enough to cause the information to stick to your memory without much more effort.

Some of you might prefer to learn by seeing. Try using colours in your notes and draw diagrams to help represent key points. You can also try to remember some ideas as images.

Highlight important points while studying.

While studying look for important points or key words depending on what you have to memorize, highlight them, remember them, and then try to memorize the rest. If reading online PDFs, make use of the highlighting function for key points. This helps you to memories, as well as fast recovery of information when searching through the document again.

Revise again & again.

At least once a week you should go back over the notes you’ve studied in earlier. Revising things over again can help you to understand the concepts and help you remember when you need them the most.

Frequently write and rewrite the notes. When you go to your note board, look at an item, rewrite it and replace the existing one. If you are having particular difficulty with one of the existing notes, take the old note and put it somewhere else, where you will see it more often. Replace that one occasionally, too. This way you learn it all twice, once when you make the study materials or notes and once when you use them to revise. In case of mathematics practice again and again to bring it to perfection.

Get a friend or family member to examine you on key concepts. Offer to help your friends with their work too. Quizzing are great ways to get confident about what you know and find out what you still need to learn.

Breaks and refreshment.

It’s important to take breaks while you’re studying, especially if you’re feeling tired or frustrated. Working too long on a task can actually decrease your performance.

When you take a break, make sure you get away from your desk or study space. A bit of physical activity – even just a walk around the block – can sometimes help you to look at a problem in a different way and could even help you to solve it.

Always stay motivated.

When you’re studying it helps to keep in mind your reasons for doing all this hard work, like a course or career you’re working towards. It can help to have something in your study space to remind you of your goals.

You could also decorate your study space with inspirational quotes or photos of people you admire and family members you want to make proud of you.

Take care of yourself.

The most important thing is that you will study better and perform your best only if you take care of yourself. Make sure you eat well and get enough sleep and physical exercise. Don’t take too many sugary or fatty snacks or push yourself to study late into the night. It’s also a good idea to make sure you drink lots of water when you’re studying.

If you put forth the effort to study with  effectively techniques , the improved skills will soon become a habit and be just as natural as breathing. The result can be better grades, greater knowledge, and higher self-esteem. These skills will also serve you well in your professional and personal life. Your motto should be, “I’m responsible for my success!”

How to Choose a Career

Most people have a level of uncertainty on where to get help in how to choose career and get proper career guidence . There are 3 basic steps that a person can take to help them with the question of How to Choose a Career. Listed below are several suggestions to help you choose a career. These steps are especially helpful for students as they develop a career plan.

Steps in Choosing a Career

Step One

Figure out where your career interests are by asking yourself:

  • Where do my interests lie?
  • What do I do well and enjoy?
  • What kind of personality do I have?
  • What’s really important to me?
  • What are my values?

Take any career-related tests your college’s career center might offer, or take an on-line career assessment to help you figure out how to choose career. Draw on your own life experiences on jobs, classes or other opportunities that you may have particularly enjoyed. Remember, this is very personal and is all about you! Choosing a career can be very satisfying with the right help.

Step Two

Learn about your career options. Rarely do you have the opportunity to take a class in college that shows you what the work world as it actually exists. You have to take the initiative to explore it yourself. See if your college’s career office has a library of books describing different kinds of work, the typical qualifications needed and the salary ranges for various occupations. Your college’s career counselors should be able to help. Also, talk to people through informational interviews, and try out careers by shadowing and taking internships or part-time jobs. The more career planning that you can do as a student, the better prepared you will be when you start to look for your first job.

Step Three

A third part of how to choose career is to sort out your priorities for a career. After you’ve spent time on steps one and two, some of your strong preferences may start to emerge. You might learn you don’t want to be in an office environment. Or you might find that your interest in art wouldn’t sustain a career, so you cross those types of jobs off your list. Whatever it is that you learn about yourself, you’re making important discoveries that will help you choose a good career when the time comes. This is a major component of career planning for students.

Most importantly, keep it all in perspective: You don’t have to live forever with any career decision you make in these phases of student career planning. Most people change careers several times during their lives, so the first job you choose right after college probably won’t be your career 15 or 20 years from now — unless you want it to be. So don’t put too much pressure on yourself to make the perfect decision, and always keep your eyes open, and use all available resources in your journey to find how to choose a career.

Memorization Techniques for Students

Everyone’s had an awkward moment involving forgetting something at a bad time, whether a student in an exam or a staff at the office. It can be difficult to bring to memory something in a short term. Here comes the role and importance of memorization techniques for students and professionals in their daily life.

Real fact is that there are many more things we need to pay attention to in life today than there was even 10 years ago. In fact, we are now expected to remember, learn, and instantly recall nearly 100 more pieces of data per day than what our grandparents did 100 years ago.

Here are some ways to improve your memory of facts without complex and obscure pneumonic or special drugs.

Rote method and memorize through repetition:

Although rote learning doesn’t have a great reputation among educators for long-term data retention, it’s a fairly effective way to retain facts and figures in the short term for tests and exams.

Rote learning means learning through repetition. You probably learned the letters of the alphabet through repetition in combination with a catchy rhyming song. Schools still teach certain information using rote memorization.

When short-term data retention is your primary goal, rote memorization can be an effective memorizing technique. However, its repetitive nature and lack of analysis makes it an ineffective way to learn complex and detailed subjects.

For example, if words are to be learned, they may be repeatedly spoken aloud or repeatedly written down. Specialized forms of rote learning have also been used in Vedic chant since as long as three thousand years ago, to preserve the intonation and lexical accuracy of very long texts, some with tens of thousands of verses.

Visualization & Mind mapping technique:

A step up from a Method of Loci, visualization creates images and sequences around certain objects. Meditation often uses visualization and the unconscious way the mind is able to process information.

Mind maps are wonderful tools for retaining information. Since it’s often difficult to memorize information when it’s presented as a ‘wall of text,’ mind maps break down complex subjects into easily distinguishable visual categories. For example, Accounting could split into finance, day-to-day bookkeeping, equity, and other important subcategories.

Hand-writing of notes and assignments:

Students who hand-writing their notes and assignments are able to remember as much as 80% more of the information than those who use electronic devices. Hand-writing stimulates a portion of the brain that incorporates the physical, auditory, and intelligible parts of our learning processes. The combination provides more memory enhancements than other techniques.

In areas where final revisions are more common, most students are expected to re-write their notes at the end of the year and organize the information. The act of re-writing is a memory technique.

Learn through practical exercises:

Sometimes, the best way to remember information is through practice.  It’s often a lot easier to demonstrate and practice than to read, study, and memorize.

Practical learning is particularly helpful for hands-on topics like web development and mechanical engineering. For example, it’s easier to learn HTML tags by building a simple website than by learning a list of common tags by rote memorization.

Learn by Mistake:

For some people, purposely making a mistake and attaching the emotion of the mistake to the wrong answer can lead to remembering the right answer. The negative emotion is a stronger trigger than the praise for getting it right. Children who are in abusive homes or driven to perfectionism often utilize this technique.

This works well for choosing one of just a few answers, such as using baking soda rather than baking powder. It’s not a useful technique for things like names.

Learn by doing repeatedly:

Most people are able to learn a new skill by repeatedly doing something over and over. These people are physical learners. Sports, martial arts, music, and drawing are learned by repetition by doing.

This is a skill employed by most workplaces. The workforce teaches people by demonstration, then allows the person to repeat it. For most people, this is acceptable. But, if you are of a learning type that is more introspective, this is very distracting.

Learn by repeated listening:

Some people are able to learn by listening to something repeatedly. These people are auditory learner. Often times, learning a language is repetition by listening. Lectures, audio books, and sermons are attractive to people who learn in this manner.

One of the best ways to learn through listening is by recording spoken notes of the key points you learn from reading.

Use of flashcards method:

Mastering a new language is difficult, trying to memorize words and phrases in a new language especially if it has little in common with your native language or other languages you already speak.

One of the best ways to memorize words and characters is by using flashcards. Start with between five and ten characters, and test your memory by displaying them in a random order using real flashcards or a smart phone app.

Learn by maintenance rehearsal:

Maintenance rehearsal (a method of learning through repetition, similar to rote learning) can be useful for memorizing information for a short period of time, studies have shown that elaborative rehearsal, which is a means of relating new material with old information in order to obtain a deeper understanding of the content, is a more efficient means of improving memory.

This can be explained by the levels-of-processing model of memory which states that the more in-depth encoding a person undergoes while learning new material by associating it with memories already known to the person, the more likely they are to remember the information later.

Memorization by chunking method:

Another useful way to improve memorization is to use chunking, a method in which a person categorizes the information they are trying to memorize into groups. For example, a person wishing to memorize a long sequence of numbers can break the sequence up into chunks of three, allowing them to remember more of the numbers.

Similarly, this is how we often memorize telephone numbers, by breaking them up into the three sections: an area code, followed by a three-digit number and then a four-digit number. If a list of words is to be memorized, using chunking, the words could be broken up into groups based on their starting letter or based on their category (ex: Months of the year, types of food, etc.).

Sleeping after you learn:

Studies have shown that when we sleep for 15 minutes after learning a complex topic, our brains review and relearn the topic in our sleep. Additionally, that topic has neural connections that solidify 50% quicker than when you don’t sleep.

This only works when the study period is well attended and you aren’t falling asleep reading it or in class. This is also the one of the few natural memory enhancers that we all can do without turning to a supplement, drug, or other artificial means.

Increase memory by walking:

Studies show that the act of walking increases memory formation by 25%. The motion allows parts of our brains that are idle during resting study to activate. The ability to unconsciously walk allows the conscious mind to focus more on the task to be learned.

Children with ADHD benefit from this technique because it also helps to expend nervous energy while studying. A study on Alzheimer’s patients also found physical activity works to slow the memory loss processes. It’s one of the ways to prevent memory loss, or learning how to increase your working memory.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a complex neurodevelopment disorder that can affect your child’s success at school as well as their relationships.

Conclusion:

Memory improvement tips are good, but don’t try all of these at once. One or two are enough to increase your particular way of learning. All the memorization technique mentioned above won’t suite the same person, go by the process that you are comfortable with or gives you the necessary result.  Memorizing strategies is a process in order to build easy, go-to techniques. Like any other skill, it takes practice and dedication.

If all else fails, there are several apps to improve memory available online. Some are free, most are paid for. Many allow multiple reminders and repetitive reminders. But don’t give up. Some people will not be able to remember some aspects of information. That’s OK. These and other external aids will improve your life if you use them.

A generic drug is a medication created to be the same as an already marketed brand-name drug in dosage form, safety, strength, route of administration, quality, performance characteristics, and intended use. These similarities help to demonstrate bioequivalence, which means that a generic medicine works in the same way and provides the same clinical benefit as its brand-name version. This creation of Generic medicine has really benefited as a relief to mankind.

Generic medicines compared to brand-name medicines

Any generic medicine modeled after a brand-name medicine must perform the same in the body as the brand-name medicine. This standard applies to all generic medicines. A generic medicine is the same as a brand-name medicine in dosage, safety, effectiveness, strength, stability, and quality, as well as in the way it is taken and the way it should be used. Generic medicines use the same active ingredients as brand-name medicines and work the same way, so they have the same risks and benefits as the brand-name medicines.

It is important to note that there will always be a slight, but not medically important, level of natural variability just as there is for one batch of brand-name medicine compared with the next batch of brand-name product. This variability can and does occur during manufacturing, for both brand-name and generic medicines. When a medicine, generic or brand-name, is mass produced, very small variations in purity, size, strength, and other parameters are permitted.

Brand-name drugs look different from their generic versions

Generic medicines and brand-name medicines share the same active ingredient, but other characteristics, such as colors and flavorings, that do not affect the performance, safety, or effectiveness of the generic medicine, may be different.

These drugs may differ in:

  • Shape
  • Color
  • Packaging
  • Labeling (minor differences)

Generic drugs are allowed to have different inactive ingredients than brand-name drugs. For example, they may have a different:

  • Flavoring
  • Preservative

Generic drugs may also have a different expiration date than brand-name drugs. But even so, the generic must keep its effectiveness until its expiration date, just like a brand-name product.

Generic medicines cost less than brand-name medicines

Generic drugs also tend to cost less than their brand-name counterparts because generic drug applicants do not have to repeat animal and clinical (human) studies that were required of the brand-name medicines to demonstrate safety and effectiveness. This is why the application is called an “abbreviated new drug application.” This together with competition between the brand-name drug and multiple generic drugs, is a large part of the reason generic medicines cost much less.

The reduction in upfront research costs means that, although generic medicines have the same therapeutic effect as their branded counterparts, they are typically sold at substantial discounts, an estimated 80 to 85% less, compared with the price of the brand-name medicine.

Should we be taking Generic medication ?

Generics are not available for all medications. The best way to find out if a generic is available for a medication you are taking — and whether or not you should take it — is to ask your doctor and pharmacist.

Some health insurance providers require you to use a generic drug, if available. If you choose to purchase the brand-name product, you may end up paying on your own or have a  larger co-pay.

Generally, your pharmacist can substitute a generic drug for a brand-name drug. If a generic is available, but for some reason your doctor thinks you should still take the brand-name drug, he’ll write “Do Not Substitute” on the prescription.

If your pharmacist for some reason does not substitute a generic for a brand-name drug, you can ask your doctor to indicate on the prescription that substitutions are acceptable. That way, you can get the same drug for a lot less money.

It can get confusing. Don’t be afraid to ask your pharmacist if the medication you received is the generic form of the medicine you are used to taking.

Tell your doctor if you notice any change in your condition or have any unusual side effects when changing from a brand-name to a generic drug.

Generic Drugs use worldwide

The story of generics versus branded medicine being used to treat patients all over the world is not new. Many people become concerned because generic drugs are often substantially cheaper than the brand-name versions. They wonder if the quality and effectiveness have been compromised to make the less expensive products. The FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) requires that generic drugs be as safe and effective as brand-name drugs.

Actually, generic drugs are only cheaper because the manufacturers have not had the expenses of developing and marketing a new drug. When a company brings a new drug onto the market, the firm has already spent substantial money on research, development, marketing and promotion of the drug. A patent is granted that gives the company that developed the drug an exclusive right to sell the drug as long as the patent is in effect.

As the patent nears expiration, manufacturers can apply to the FDA for permission to make and sell generic versions of the drug; and without the startup costs for development of the drug, other companies can afford to make and sell it more cheaply. When multiple companies begin producing and selling a drug, the competition among them can also drive the price down even further.

So there’s no truth in the myths that generic drugs are manufactured in poorer-quality facilities or are inferior in quality to brand-name drugs. The FDA applies the same standards for all drug manufacturing facilities, and many companies manufacture both brand-name and generic drugs. Another common misbelief is that generic drugs take longer to work. The FDA requires that generic drugs work as fast and as effectively as the original brand-name products.

Sometimes, generic versions of a drug have different colors, flavors, or combinations of inactive ingredients than the original medications. Trademark laws in the United States do not allow the generic drugs to look exactly like the brand-name preparation, but the active ingredients must be the same in both preparations, ensuring that both have the same medicinal effects.

Generic medicines in India

While this is done in America when it will progress in India the poor shall be the greatest beneficiary of change. Anything for the poor is always a welcome idea but not at the cost of human health and survival. To compare American conditions with ours could be a naive if not disastrous idea sometimes.

It is well known that American democracy is more than 260 years old. Unlike India, it attracts the best of the talents from the world, and the public is ruled by a set of governance with a minimal bureaucratic control. Contrary to that, we are a developing nation with a short history, and merit has very often than not been a casualty. While the perception of the decision is poor-centric, ultimately it is this class which bears the brunt of poor quality in a system dominated by rich and the powerful.

While there is no denial of the fact that good quality generics are always comparable to the branded medicine, the quality of the product depends on the sophisticated processing and manufacturing of a research molecule. It is a global experience of the clinicians that the original molecules are more efficacious and have higher biological availability to act on the root of the disease process vis-à-vis those manufactured under different conditions and marketed after procuring licenses through dubious means.

While in United States, there is a stringent quality control and a serious periodic monitoring of the quality, this is far from truth in India, where to get a drug license through political or bureaucratic connections by corrupt means is as easy as buying vegetables in the market. The drug control mechanisms in India have huge limitations both in terms of availability of manpower and technology. Rampant corruption in the system makes it worse.

The other major limitation in our country is the non-availability of qualified pharmacist and dispensers on the medical shops. The pharmacies or the drug shops all across India are largely manned by unemployed and untrained youth or family members. The pharmacist by and large outsources his license and takes his commission out of the contract. Left to them, it could have very serious implications where the technical ingredients of which the dispenser is ignorant could be wrongly dispensed under the huge risk of allergies and side effects. Further, many drug formulations with combinations shall be difficult for the unqualified shopkeeper to deliver.

With the mushrooming of pharmaceutical companies with incentives, the owner of the drug stores shall be least concerned with the quality of the drug. While it is true that some of the medical professionals have been hand-in-glove with the pharma companies and could have harmed patient interests, by and large a doctor would always like his patient to be cured and would prefer a quality medicine with good bioavailability for primary illness. He may be using certain adjuncts to benefit the company which could always be curtailed by a prescription auditing through the Medical Council. This would certainly be more preferred than leaving patients to the mercy of unqualified drug dispensers. Leaving it to the discretion of the pharmacist could be even more counterproductive. Chemists are unregulated and have no obligations, ethical or commercial for selling products.

Regarding the drug pricing, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority can always reduce the maximum retail price and leave very little room for manipulation by the pharmaceutical companies. Government could also consider introducing uniform code of marketing for bringing down the cost of medicines.

No medical professional would be against the low cost generic, provided it that is a quality drug but it is believed that not more than 1% of generic drugs sold in India undergo quality tests as practiced in USA or Europe. Ensuring availability of uniform quality of generic drugs would facilitate doctors to prescribe them with confidence.

If this is ignored it is likely to create a disastrous situation for the common men where his suffering would increase if he is dispensed “cheaper” poor quality generics. The brunt would fall on the have-nots since, the affluent and the powerful would always manage the quality drugs either generic or branded. This has happened in the larger government institutions where the branded medicines were replaced by generics. Remember while comparing generics with the branded medicines, it is just not the content of the ingredient, it is the purity and the concentration producing effective biological levels in the blood.

Another fallout of the proposed change would negatively incentivise pharma companies to invest in research and development. Not only will it create huge unemployment issues but will also greatly hamper creation of newer molecules.

It is necessary for the concerned authorities to first set their house in order and create a local framework free of corrupt practices to provide quality in generic drug testing and also create stringent process of issuing licenses. Once this is available, the Generics would obviously be as good as the so called branded. Thus it would be a good situation for everyone.

What makes a Good Employee Quit?

Often Jobs fail relationship growth between employees and employer

It is really tough to hold on to good employees, but it’s not impossible to be done. What makes a good employe quit? Many of the mistakes that companies make can easily be avoided. When you do make mistakes, your best employees are the first to go, because they have the most options available. Many jobs fail relationship growth between employees and employer.

If you can’t keep your best employees properly engaged, you can’t keep your best employees. While this should be common sense, it isn’t common enough. When you lose good employees, they don’t disengage all at once. Instead, their interest in their jobs slowly dissipates. Like dying stars, star employees slowly lose their motivation for their jobs.

Losing a good employee is a terrible thing. There’s the expense of finding, on boarding, and training a replacement. Then comes the uncertainty of how a new employee will work out. There’s also the hardship on the rest of your staff until the position can be filled.

In order to prevent your best employees quite and to retain top talent, companies and managers must understand what they’re doing that contributes to this slow die away. Those wrong practices are the worst offenders, and they must be abolished if you’re going to hang on to good employees.

  • Over stressed with work.

Some periods of stress and feeling overwhelmed come with most jobs, but nothing burns out great employees faster than overwork. And often it’s the best employees, the most capable and committed; the most trusted who is overloaded with all the work. If they find themselves constantly taking on more and more, especially in the absence of recognition such as promotions and raises, they come to feel they have been taken advantage of or exploited.

  • Not satisfied with compensation.

Nobody will work for free or stay in an organization which doesn’t offer a satisfying remuneration together with a good package of additional benefits. Hence paying your employees in accordance to the amount of work they do is one of the most basic things you should do. Without offering promotions and deserved raises in their salary, you cannot expect high performing employees to stay for the same amount of compensation for long period.

  • Overlook performing employees

When an organization values its bottom line employees more than its performers, the best employees go elsewhere, leaving behind those who are too mediocre or apathetic to find a better position. The result is a culture of underperformance, low morale, and even disciplinary issues. Of course, things like profit, output, turnover, pleasing stakeholders, and productivity are important but success ultimately depends on the best employees who do the work.

  • Not appreciated or recognized

Even the most selfless people want to be recognized and rewarded for a job well done. It is a human nature. When you fail to recognize employees, you’re not only failing to motivate them but also missing out on the most effective way to reinforce great performance. Even if you don’t have the budget for raises or bonus, there are lots of low-cost ways to provide recognition–and a word of appreciation is free. People won’t care if they don’t feel noticed. Some words of praise every now and then are needed, so that employees can feel respected and perform even better at their job.

  • Lack of trust

If employees see their employer or top line dealing unethically with vendors, dishonest to stakeholders, cheating clients, or failing to keep your word, the best and most principled of them will leave. The rest, even worse, will stay behind and follow their top line.

Building a respectful relationship between the employer and the employee is important in order for a successful collaboration to happen. Working in a workplace where the managers are full of doubts about whether you are doing your job and also questioning your performance is not a situation an employee would wish to be in.

  • Lack of motivation and engagement.

Another reason for leaving a job, closely behind the compensation, is the lack of motivation and engagement at the workplace. Employees may have intrinsic motivation and be passionate about the job all the time. However, if managers do not try to do something to provide extra motivation, the employees may feel they are stagnating or even feel bored which is the last thing that should happen. An engaged employee is a happy employee.

  • No growth.

Employees don’t want to think they’re locked into a groove and will come to the same place and do the same thing every day as long as he or she is in this organization. Employees want to feel that they’re still moving forward and growing in their professional life. They want to have something to aspire to. If there’s no career ladder or structure for advancement, they know they’ll need to seek it somewhere else. In the meantime, they’re far more likely to be bored, unhappy, and resentful–things that affect performance and the entire team’s morale.

  • No learning environment.

What employees need at the workplace is the ability to continually learn and upgrade themselves professionally. The ability to grow, climb the career ladder, obtain new skills and be better at what they do over time is what every employee would like. However, some workplaces do not offer them much learning opportunity and because of that, employees lose the motivation to work and do not see any future for themselves in the company they currently work for.

  • Different mindset of coworkers

We may all like our friends more than we like our colleagues, but the truth is that our colleagues are those with whom we spend most of our day. Once someone has chosen to accept a job at a given company, they have automatically and indirectly chosen their colleagues as well. They might love their job, but coping with the different mindset of their coworkers could be an issue that cannot be fixed. By making the right decisions while hiring, you wouldn’t like to see your best employees leave because of the others.

Matter of Concern:

Lastly managers tend to believe turnover is the main problems of everything under the sun while ignoring the root cause of the matter. They should also accept the fact that employees don’t leave jobs; they leave their managers.

There may be many other reasons or mistakes that cause great employees to leave. Please share your thoughts in the comments section below, as this will help me to learn much from you as you do from me.

Many Health Benefits of Potato, Amazing!

Potatoes are one of the most common and important food sources on the planet, and they contain a wealth of health benefits that make them all the more essential as a staple dietary item for much of the world’s population. Being very nutritious with lots of minerals, fiber, vitamins, calciam & iron potato benefits every humans.

Many children around the world often refuse to eat their vegetables, yet they share something else in common. They almost all like potatoes. This is the strange and magical quality of potatoes; you will rarely find anyone who dislikes them or refuses to eat them. They are in almost every major continental diet in some form, and they can be prepared in dozens of ways, including baked, fried, sliced, mashed, and many more.

Potatoes originated in the Andean mountain region of South America. Researchers estimate that potatoes have been cultivated by the Indians living in these areas for between 4,000 and 7,000 years. Today, this vegetable is one of the most popular throughout the world and the main producers of potatoes include the Russian Federation, Poland, India, China and the United States.

Potatoes should not be stored around onions because both vegetables emit natural gases that cause the other to decay. Potatoes should not be stored in the refrigerator, as their starch content will turn to sugar giving them an undesirable taste.

Nutritional value:

Potatoes are a very good source of vitamin B6 and a good source of potassium, copper, vitamin C, manganese, phosphorus, niacin, dietary fiber and pantothenic acid.

Minerals: If potatoes are consumed regularly, we can ensure a good supply of water and ions in your body. Potatoes are rich in potassium, magnesium,  phosphorus zinc and are good for the skin. So, eating the potato with its skin is always beneficial. They also contain calcium and iron.

Vitamins: Potatoes contain large amounts of Vitamin C present in them. In addition to this, they also contains Vitamin A, B and P. High concentration of vitamin B6 in potato earns high marks as a health-promoting food. Vitamin B6 plays numerous roles in our nervous system and is a key player in athletic performance and endurance.

Water: In Potato water accounts for about 70-80 percent of their weight. We have a general misconception that by eating potatoes one will become fat. If our potato dish contains large quantities of greasy butter, sour cream, melted cheese or bacon bits then it can be a potential contributor to a heart attack. If we can’t keep away from those high-fat and high-cholesterol greasy French fries, or potato chips then one is bound to become overweight.

Starch: Potatoes contain about 17% starch and they are one of the best natural sources of starch. However, one should avoid eating sprouted potatoes as sprouting leads to the conversion of starch into sugar.

Some ways that will help us reduce the loss of potato nutrients:

Peeling the potatoes before cooking should be avoided. The protein and mineral content beneath the skin is very high so if we eat the skin along with the inside part, we get all these nutrients, or else we will primarily end up eating is just carbohydrates.

When we boil potatoes, first we should heat the water to its boiling point and then add them. This will reduce the cooking time and help us maintain the Vitamin C content.

Frying of potatoes should be minimized, as 75% of Vitamin C is lost during frying. We can use other cooking methods such as baking and steaming to reduce loss.

Foremost Health Benefits:

Improves digestion-

Since potatoes predominantly contain carbohydrates they are easy to digest and facilitate digestion. The fiber content in potato benefits in prevention of constipation. The vegetable improves bowel movement and keeps the digestive tract healthy. Fiber is also connected with scraping cholesterol out of the arteries and blood vessels, thereby increasing heart health.

Reduces blood pressure-

Potatoes can be used to relieve high blood pressure due to tension. They should be avoided if the high blood pressure is a result of diabetes. The fiber present in it is helpful in lowering cholesterol and improves functioning of insulin in the body, which aids in the lowering of blood pressure. Baked potatoes are rich in potassium and magnesium, which are important for healthy heart.

Reduces inflammation-

Potatoes benefits us in effectively reducing  inflammation both internal and external. It is soft, easily digestible & contains a lot of Vitamin B6, potassium and vitamin C which can relieve inflammation of the digestive system and the intestine. Vitamin-C is also a very good antioxidant that repairs tissue wear and tear. Hence, people who suffer from arthritis and gout can use potatoes for their anti-inflammatory impact, but should eat baked potatoes instead of deep fried ones.

Protects Skin-

Potatoes rich in Vitamin-C and B-complex also contains minerals like potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc are good for the skin. Vitamin C as an essential nutrient that works in our bodies as an antioxidant to help prevent damage caused by the sun, pollution, and smoke. Crushed raw potatoes pulp, mixed with honey, can work well in skin and face packs. This even helps to cure pimples and spots on the skin. Potato pulp, applied externally on burns, provides quick relief and faster healing. Smashed potatoes, and even potato washed water is very good for softening and cleaning skin, especially around the elbows, and the back of the hands.

Relieves Rheumatism-

One of the home remedies for rheumatism is Potato. Vitamins like the calcium and magnesium help to provide relief from rheumatism. Water obtained from boiling potatoes can relieve the pain and inflammation of rheumatism. However, due to high starch and carbohydrate content, it tends to increase body weight which may have adverse effects on rheumatic people. So external application is better than consuming the potato itself.

Weight gain-

Since Potatoes are rich in carbohydrates and contain very little protein so it is an ideal diet for those excessively lean or thin people who desperately want to put on weight. Vitamin-C and B-complex, present in potatoes also help in proper absorption of carbohydrates. That is why potatoes make up a large part of the diet of sumo wrestlers, as well as many other athletes who need large energy reserves to burn off in order to compete.Brain Function

Brain to function efficiently depends largely on the glucose level, oxygen supply, vitamin-B complex and certain hormones, amino acids and fatty acids like omega-3. Potatoes cater to most of these needs. They are rich in carbohydrates, and thereby maintain good levels of glucose in the blood. This prevents the brain from letting fatigue creep in and it keeps your cognitive activity and performance high.

Now, the brain needs oxygen, which is carried to the brain by the hemoglobin in the blood; its main constituent is iron which is present in potatoes. Thus they help deliver oxygen to the brain as well. There are a wide variety of vitamins and minerals in potatoes that positively affect the function of the brain, including phosphorus, zinc, and the B complex vitamins.

Prevents cancer-

Fiber intake from fruits and vegetables like potatoes are associated with a lowered risk of colorectal cancer. Research has shown that potatoes contain a compound called quercetin, which has been proven to have anti-cancer and anti-tumor properties. High levels of vitamin A and C both have antioxidant qualities that can protect our body from the devastating effects of cancer.

Building Bones-

Iron, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, and zinc in potatoes all contribute to the building and maintenance of bone structure and strength. Iron and zinc play crucial roles in the production and maturation of collagen. Though phosphorus and calcium are both important in bone structure, the careful balance of the two minerals is necessary for proper bone mineralization consumption of too much phosphorus with too little calcium can result in bone loss.

Prevents Scurvy-

High level vitamin-C present in potatoes can help prevent this disease, caused by a deficiency of vitamin-C. It is characterized by cracked lip corners, spongy and bleeding gums, and frequent viral infections. In certain nations of the world scurvy still exist, this can be check by the abundant presence of potatoes to solve this problem.

Cautions:

Some care also needs to be taken while eating potatoes. Green potatoes are often poisonous, and so are potato leaves and fruits, as they contain alkaloids like solanine, chaconine and arsenic. An overdose of those chemicals could easily prove fatal. People who are obese, trying to lose weight or diabetic should avoid eating potatoes. If eaten, potatoes are healthier when baked, rather than raw or fried.

Benefits of Water Therapy

The early morning hours is our ‘’golden hours’’. A lot can be done before we start the day. Oil massaging, drinking lemon water, dry brushing, meditation / praying and  a quick morning workout are all examples of how we can start our day healthy and set the tone for the rest of the day. But the Japanese recommend us to add one more very healthy habit, the Japanese water therapy. For decades the Japanese have been practicing the habit of drinking water in the morning on an empty stomach.

Drinking water is of course generally good for our health. Water is a great source of vitality and is a necessary element for every cell and function in our body. There is no life without water. Many scientific studies and research is going on for years on the effects of drinking water on human lives.

Now what do you understand by Japanese water therapy?

Japanese traditional medical system recommends drinking water just after awakening because of its natural health benefits.

For decades, it is a well-known habit in Japan to drink water immediately after waking up every morning on an empty stomach although no studies could be found on it.

For minor illnesses as well as serious diseases the water treatment has been found successful by a Japanese medical system as a natural remedy in cases of:

  • body ache
  • headache
  • arthritis
  • fast heart beat
  • heart problems
  • epilepsy
  • obesity
  • meningitis
  • diabetes
  • menstrual disorders
  • urine and diseases
  • vomiting
  • gastritis
  • diarrhea
  • constipation
  • piles
  • ear, nose, and throat diseases
  • all eye diseases
  • bronchitis asthma

Let us understand the different steps in Japanese water therapy

What precautions to take before we start practicing the Japanese water therapy? If you suffering or have any kidney problem or other severe health issues, then take your doctor’s advice before starting the Japanese Water Therapy. Now we come to the steps we need to follow to carry out this therapy.

  1. After we wake up we should drink 4 x 160ml (22 ounces) glasses of water not cold before we do anything else, including brushing our teeth.
  2. After we finish our water, we can brush our teeth, but eating or drinking for next 45 minutes is not allowed.
  3. After 45 minutes have passed we may eat and drink as normal.
  4. After every meal or snack, we should not eat or drink anything for next 2 hours.
  5. If anyone is sick, elderly, or not used to this habit, one can start this process gradually that eventually after some days will consume 22 ounces water per day.

It is suggested to continue this therapy and to make this procedure a routine in our life. The Chinese and Japanese usually tend to drink hot water with their meals, not cold water. Maybe now it’s time that we should also adopt their drinking habits? In Ayurveda also there are also many suggestions on the temperature of drinking water. They believe that drinking liquids too cold or too hot can cause many diseases.

Now why should one believe this Japanese practice?

There are some remarkable facts which convince us to adopt some of the Japanese healthy habits. Japanese have the most longevity life as nation and there are quite a number of Japanese men & women older than 100 years.

Japanese water therapy, similar to the water therapy in Indian ayurveda, has been around for a very long time. In fact, the Japanese water therapy is extremely popular not only in Japan, but throughout the world. We all know that our bodies are made up of 60-70% water so when the amount of water in our body reduces, we face different health problems since our organs can’t function without water.

Condition:

We should never overdo this water therapy. Drinking excess water in a short time can lead to what is known as “fatal water poisoning” or affect our kidney. Now the level of excessive water depends on factors like age, person’s fitness level, weight, climatic conditions etc has to be taken into account. Too much of a good thing is also not good either, and this certainly goes with Japanese water therapy as well. So some conditions & precautions are to taken before we go for Japanese water therapy.

Job does not give Life a Meaning

People would be a lot happier with the Job they had if they were happier with themselves outside of their job. We have seen steady decline in job satisfaction, no matter if the employment rate is very high or very low, and even when most people have control over their time and their workload, they still report that they are unhappy in their jobs.

People do not like work because they don’t like their personal life. And the key to being happy at work is not so much finding the perfect career as it is finding yourself. The more self-knowledge you have the happier you will be. So stop looking at your job to solve your problems and instead look inside yourself. Make friends with yourself and with other people, and your job, whatever it is, might start looking better because you’re not asking so much from it.

If you are looking to your job for the meaning of life, forget it. Even people who feed starving children have crisis of meaning. (For example, what is the point of feeding one child when six will die?) The meaning of life is elusive and you must put in a lot of time and energy to find meaning in your life.

The job hunt is separate. The job is something you have to do to support yourself. Since you’re going to be doing it for a good portion of your life, you should look for some basics: People who respect you and your personal life. A company that is honest. A job that uses your skills and experience. A job that challenges your abilities without overwhelming you.

Work does not need to give your life a grand purpose in order to be a good experience. The most pleasurable work provides a perfect balance between too much and too little — in terms of both amount and difficulty

A career is like a mate. The relationship is limited by what you bring to the table. If you are not happy with yourself, you won’t be happy with the match-up. Here’s an analogy a friend once told me: You have to have the cake, and then the relationship is the icing. It doesn’t matter how good the icing is if there’s no cake to put it on. Who eats icing by itself ?

The part about you is the most important. What do you do when you’re alone? How do you feel about yourself? What are your core values and do you lead your life according to them each day? Do you numb yourself with food or TV or alcohol? It’s very hard to be honest about this stuff. Yet amazingly, people spend lots of time on locating a job and a mate and very little time locating themselves.

“Employees should not demand that companies imbue their lives with meaning,” Employers and employees have something that each other needs. One of the keys to a mutually beneficial relationship is a realistic understanding of what that something is. A job does not give life a meaning.

In fact, online matrimonial is not a bad model for evaluating a job. For one thing, you should never write that you want a mate to make you feel fulfilled — that’s asking much too much from a single person. Yet we complain all the time that our jobs are not fulfilling.

Online Matrimonial services ask that you be as specific as possible in your desires. So try that for a job. Here’s what I would ask for in a job, and it’s the same thing I looked for in a spouse:
Fair
Fun
Mind-expanding
Interesting
Consistent with my values
Leaves space for the other parts of my life

And here’s another thing about those lists: You are probably going to have it in your list to get your listed desires. That’s why interesting people are at interesting companies. So be who you want to be instead of looking for a mate or a company to make you who you wish you were.

Career Development : Skill Development

Skill Development :

Skill Development means developing yourself and your skill sets to add value for the organization and for your own career development. Fostering an attitude of appreciation for lifelong learning is the key to workplace success. Continuously learning and developing one’s skills requires identifying the skills needed for uplifting your Career. It then requires successfully seeking out trainings or on-the-job opportunities for developing those skills.

Developing your skills begins with assessing which skills are important for your desired career development. Now how to self access your career skill in an organisation, You can follow these steps :

  1. Identify your career goals: Before you can assess your own career skills, you need to have a clear understanding of your career goals. Think about the type of role you want to have, the type of organization you want to work for, and the areas of expertise you want to develop.
  2. Assess your current skills: Take some time to review your current skills. Think about the areas you excel in and the areas you need to improve. Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses. Now think about how you can use your skills to help you achieve your career goals.
  3. Seek feedback from colleagues: Ask colleagues or mentors for honest feedback on your skills. Ask them what they think you do well and what areas you need to work on. Use this feedback to help you identify areas you need to improve.
  4. Use online resources: Take advantage of online resources such as online courses and online job postings to get an idea of the type of skills employers are looking for. This can help you identify areas where you need to develop your skills.
  5. Take action: Once you’ve identified your strengths and weaknesses, you need to take action. If there are skills you need to develop, make a plan to write more, take a course, attend workshops, or seek out mentors who can help you hone your skills.

You can also speak with your supervisor or manager and other career mentors to identify the types of skills that will help move you forward in your career.

Your development should follow the 70-20-10 rule:

70% of your development should come from on-the-job activities and action learning. This can include development experiences like managing a project, serving on a cross-functional team, taking on a new task, job shadowing, job rotation, etc.

20% of your development should come from interactions with others. This includes having a mentor, being a mentor, coaching, participating in communities of practice, serving as a leader in a staff organization, etc.

10% of your development should come from training, including classes, seminars, webinars, podcasts, conferences, etc.

Once you have identified the skills you need to develop to achieve your career goals, your next step is identifying how you will develop your skills. The two main avenues for developing your skills are through the following:

1. Education and Training :

Education and training for skill development are essential for individuals to acquire the knowledge and abilities they need to succeed in their chosen career. Education and training can be provided in a variety of ways, including formal and informal settings.

Formal education and training involve taking classes in a structured learning environment, such as a college, university, or technical school. These courses provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to become proficient in their chosen field. In addition to classroom instruction, students may also participate in hands-on learning activities, such as internships or on-the-job training.

Informal education and training involve gaining knowledge and skills through self-directed learning. This type of education and training can involve reading books, taking online courses, attending conferences, and participating in workshops. Learning through self-directed methods can help individuals acquire the skills they need to stay up-to-date with current trends and technologies.

The type of education and training needed for skill development varies from individual to individual. For example, someone who wants to become a computer programmer may need to pursue a degree in computer science, while someone who wants to become a web designer may need to take classes in graphic design and coding.

In addition to formal and informal education and training, there are other ways to develop skills. Professional development courses, such as seminars and workshops, can help individuals gain the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

Networking is also a great way to build skills and make connections within a specific field. Finally, self-directed learning can be a great way to supplement formal education and training. By taking the initiative to stay up-to-date on trends and technologies, individuals can gain valuable skills that improve their job prospects and career advancement.

2. Developmental Experience :

Employees can develop their skills through developmental experiences in an organization. Developmental experiences provide the opportunity to learn and refine the skills necessary to succeed in a particular job or role. These experiences could include on-the-job training, mentoring, job rotations, or attending professional seminars or workshops.

On-the-job training is one of the most common ways to develop skills. This type of training involves working directly with a supervisor or mentor to learn the skills needed for a particular job or role. For example, a supervisor may assign an employee to work on a project that requires specific skills. Through direct instruction and practice, the employee can learn and refine the skills necessary to complete the project.

Mentoring is another way to develop skills. In a mentoring relationship, an experienced mentor provides guidance and advice to a less experienced employee. This type of relationship fosters an environment of learning and personal growth, which can help an employee develop the skills needed to excel in their job.

Job rotations are another type of developmental experience that involve rotating employees between different departments or roles within the organization. This type of experience gives the employee an opportunity to learn different skills and gain a better understanding of how the organization works.

A balance in Career and Life

Career and Lifestyle

There is a belief in our society that people should work hard for their entire life to build their career, sacrifice themselves in order to earn a living and accumulated enough money so that they can live the life they want. This belief is the cause for much of our unhappiness, dissatisfaction, and pain in our lives. The truth is that people who design their career around their wanted lifestyle, rather than the other way around, actually work harder, make more money, have more opportunity, are more well-liked, and have more fulfilling careers. So a perfect balance between our career and life is the reality we can never ignore.

We should make a list of the things that are important to us to have in our lives.

Now to write down what each thing will cost us, and be liberal on the expense side.

When we have calculated what we need in our life, then we know how much is required to live our ideal lifestyle. From there, we can begin to build the income streams necessary to make our dreams become a reality.

We define success only in the context of career – how far up the corporate ladder we can climb and how much money or bonus one could earn. I think we should take a much broader perspective on success.

To be truly successful is to have a balance in our life. So often we are focused on one area of our life at the expense of another. I really believe we are most successful when we are in balance and generally feeling happy with every area of life, whether that’s career, family, friends, significant other, finances, personal growth, health and wellness, physical environment and even spirituality.

Now what are our priorities?

First, it’s really important to get clarity around our values. What’s most important to us ? We should take some amount of time for some self-discovery to define our values. Often there is disconnect between what people say are their values and what they are actually practicing. Once we define and have clarity around our values, it becomes easier to make choices and decisions in our life.

In my experience, people are better able to express the “things” they want rather than what truly makes them happy. Helping people get reconnected to their values, desires and their dreams helps them to steer away from the pursuit of “things” and moves them toward what they truly value instead.

What are our goals and how to implement?

I strongly believe it’s important to not only set goals but to also review them regularly. Each year we should take stock of what we have accomplished that particular year and take the time to review what we have learned and how much we have grown in every area of our life.
Then we should also take the time to think about our goals for the following year:
• What do we want it to be in our status the coming year?
• What should success look like at the end of the year?
• What career and/or business goals do we wish to set for the year?
• What personal development initiatives or training do we want to undertake?
• Where far do we want to travel to achieve our goal?
• What much do we wish to gather experience though out the year?
• How much amount of money do we want to save or invest during the year?

It’s really amazing how many goals we can achieve just by identifying them and clearly articulating them.

Next we have to put time and energy on how to implement our action towards those goals set by us. Sometimes it’s time consuming and sometimes it’s just not an easy task. Successful people get things done, no matter how busy they are. So if we want to achieve something in our life with our goals set then we will put the time and energy into it.

Now it is time to enjoy every step in the journey to success.

Lastly, it’s not just about reaching the goals; it is also about enjoying each & every moment along the way to the goal that’s fulfilling. Those wonderful memories and lessons learned along the way in this long journey for a balance in our career and life make the goal much more meaningful than the goal itself.
