Make it a Season of Growth in your Career

There’s something fresh and exciting about this time of year. As new growth begins to appear, it’s a reminder that you should be cultivating growth in your career. Here are some great questions to ponder if you want to progress in your profession:

Are you planted in the right soil?
Where are you working? Is it a company where you can develop and grow? If so, what opportunities can you pursue to produce growth? If not, maybe it’s time to move on to greener pastures. It’s good to assess where you’re at every now and then to keep from getting complacent in your career.

Do you have enough sunlight?

Just like a plant needs the sun’s nutrients to grow, we need insight to flourish in our career. A mentor can illuminate areas that need attention and shed light on new opportunities. If you don’t have one, start looking around. Everyone has blind spots, but a mentor will help you see things clearly and work with you to create a strategy for growth.

Are you getting enough water?

Is your career hydrated and growing strong or dry and withered? If you’re feeling burned out, it’s time to get refreshed. Sometimes, all you need is a break, whether it’s a week’s vacation or an extended weekend of no work. When you do, you’ll find the refreshment you need to start growing again!

Could you use some pruning?
Is there something that needs to be cut out in order for you to grow professionally? Maybe it’s a poor work ethic, negative attitude or toxic work relationship. Anything along these lines can be debilitating to your career. If you want to grow, you will need to address the areas that are holding you back in order to move forward.

What do you need to keep growing in your career? Take the right resolution…
